A little bit about Mikell Rice of Mikell Rice InteriorsAn entrepreneurial spirit runs in Mikell’s family— along with creativity. Raised in the DC area by parents who owned a graphic design company, Rice embraced her affinity for interior design after the loss of a close friend in 2011. Mikell enrolled in the master’s program at the Corcoran College of Art and Design and graduated in 2013. She worked at Alexandria design firm Ivy Lane and then for the Bethesda interior designer Erica Burns before going out on her own in 2019.
What is your favorite classic with a twist? Can be anything, interior design related, food, drinks, architecture?
Such a fun question! I love the Panton chair in an organic material like wicker
How did you find out about Dowel Furniture?
I discovered Dowel through Dianna Owens who I was introduced to by my colleague Anne Pulliam.
Which pieces did you choose for your projects and why did you choose those pieces for your clients?
Loma Coffee Table - 48W x 48D
The project is in Bethesda Maryland and is the home of a young family. The couple appreciates organic shapes and high quality materials , and Dowel was a perfect match for them.
